Not at all - that's the beauty of Napkin, just collect good ideas and Napkin will sort them around topics. We keep it simple on purpose to avoid any distraction.
Currently, Napkin is fully focused on text. Exploring ideas is most fun if the AI can understand deeper patterns in your ideas and that currently works best with text.
It isn't. Some people use Napkin to spark their writing creativity. However, it misses advanced editing and structuring of content.
Currently, Napkin is tuned for English ideas. It also understands related languages like Spanish, French or German. Many users have language-mixed accounts, that works fine. Of course we want to support more languages as soon as we can.
Napkin is a small independent company based in Switzerland, all our servers are in Europe. The databases are fully encrypted, all AI layers hosted on our servers. We don't share any data with advertising or AI companies.
Yes, Napkin aims at the improvement of an individual's Sense of Coherence (SoC) which has a strong effect on mental wellbeing. Analytic interventions reflecting on personal values, goals and beliefs improve the Sense of Coherence - Napkin provides those reflections.
When the iPhone app is robust we want to open it to iPads with some thoughtful adaptions. We are not currently working on an Android app as we can't yet afford to develop for two platforms in parallel.
We only want to launch Napkin when we feel fully comfortable with it. If you want to try it before you're very welcome to join thousands of people that use the beta. Just sign up and we'll tell you how.
Napkin is an app for the very best ideas you come across. We don't offer note imports as they'd usually clutter your Napkin with all kinds of content.
Why don't we feel inspired by all the great ideas we come across?
Many platforms distribute content aggressively, they even use psychological hacks to grab more of our attention space. They overwhelm the world with noise instead of helping us grow. We missed an app that provides a calm space to think. That actively helps to focus on the best ideas we intentionally chose to shape us. To connect ideas from different sources, to see patterns and thereby increase a feeling of coherence.
To build such an app we founded Napkin. The company is small, independent and funded only by our savings, our friends and our users. We're endlessly grateful that their subscriptions make Napkin possible and hope to help many more to lead happy, inspired lives by intentionally shaping their minds instead of being shaped.

Napkin only lives due to countless supporters that we're honored to be guided by. To just name a few:
Napkin's story started with a desktop prototype. Many people still use it daily so we're keeping it online.
